This is the result of an almost unbelievably ignorant journalist or editor, or, more likely, a conservative operative working under deep cover, down in the belly of the beast. If so, then this operative must forever be known as "agent X!"

Al Sharpton is no friend of black people. Before he marches off to Arizona to protest that state's new law allowing state enforcement of already existing immigration laws, he should note that illegal immigration takes jobs away from his own tribe. National average yearly income for a black family is 32,000, while for an illegal immigrant family its 37,000.

Why is that Al?

Black Americans have advantage of knowing the language and culture better than anyone from South America, so why should they lag in earnings? The article below shows that when Illegals are driven out, Black Americans take the jobs, so it isn't that illegals are doing jobs Americans of any kind won't.

Go away Al, somewhere far away, and bother us no more. Let the native black people benefit from enforcing the law.

It's a dog's life.

According to the leaders of the Democratic Party, the Tea Party protesters are racists, Nazis, terrorists and, according to Harry Reid, evil mongers. Yet none of the thousands of Tea Party protesters have engaged in any violence, nor has their rhetoric been in any way violent. In contrast, the fake and astroturfed "Coffee Party" immediately rejects the idea of reasonable dialogue, and expresses hate for the Tea Party. In addition, they instantly decide to reject the gal who organized this group, angling for a more angry, radical leader.
The Democrats are playing with fire, and don't have the sense to know better. Some have said that the administration wants violence, so they can forcefully crack down on their political enemies, using the power of the state. If that happens, this country and its political system will forever be changed for the worse. Our election of this monstrous president will forever be seen as a sort of Rubicon, one that will leave the country in much worse condition, much more divided and much more prone to political violence. The 52% have a lot to answer for.

Suzanne's images from the spring garden.

An antidote to scary volcano pictures.

Freaky photograph of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland. It's no photoshop. The ash in the cloud rubs together and creates immense electrical charges, which are discharged in the incredible lightning shown here.

"But perhaps the most unremarked thing about the Tea Parties is that they're not calling for a repeal of the Constitution but for its enforcement. They are the complete opposite of what Clinton thinks they are; an affirmation, not a call to create "a different country" that Clinton congratulates himself in attaining. And that may be an advantage. If the world descends into a prolonged and tectonic crisis, the one clear advantage that America will have going into it is a clear and widely shared sense of the legitimacy of its foundational principles. That may not seem like much, but if a crisis impends a widely shared sense of legitimacy will be among the most precious things in a planet gone awry."

Gay rights advocates repeatedly interrupt Obama speech. Hey, if the O-man can't even keep that constituency happy, who can he please?

They thought that they were free. The names change, but the social theories, and the results of those theories when put into practice are the same.

This is simply disgusting, low even by Obama's standards. After telling the NASA workers before the election that he would protect their jobs, he now announces that most of them will be out of work. And he does in at NASA but without a single NASA worker in the audience. How Soviet of him.

Since Obama took office, personal income in the US has dropped 3.2%. Just the first step on our road to third world status.

Libya picks fight with Switzerland, and the US supports ..... Libya. If only we had a leader worth a damn.

What's seven times larger than all the public bonds outstanding in California? The 500 Billion gap in fully funding public pensions, that's what. If you work for the state, and expect to see that ultra generous retirement when the time comes, you can forget it. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true.

Looked at another way, public employee unions simply must be made illegal. The entire state cannot be made the victim of the greed of these unions, and the venality of the politicians who cater to them.

Obama claims he has taken historic steps to improve America's democracy during his time in office. Really? What would those be?
Its interesting as well that he made the comments while meeting with the "President" of Kazakistan, one of the more repressive regimes in central Asia. Somehow it seems both inappropriate and appropriate at the same time that he did this. Does it mean he aspires to the same sort of dictatorial powers, or is he simply engaging in delusional statements consistent with his severe narcissism?

The conclusions in this editorial are certainly out there, and based very thinly on anecdote, but just the same, this sort of thing should be watched. Interesting read.

Update: just upgraded to a 7.2!

Needle Lake below Needle Peak, Granite Chief Wilderness near Tahoe. A near twin of little Cup lake, and another neat destination.

Cup Lake, Ralston Peak, Tahoe Sierra. I vow I will refill my water bottle from this lake this summer. What a gem.

A doctor in Florida, who believes that Obamacare will damage everyone's healthcare, posted this on his office door. Free speech at its best. Remember, dissent is patriotic.
