The latest study out of Wisconsin shows that their grey wolf population has increased by about 4% from a year ago. The authorities estimate that they have about 815 to 880 of the wild canines in their state.

Judging by the ubiquitous population of a similar animal, coyotes, here in California, I'll bet that their wolves just keep increasing until they start having serious conflict with their human neighbors, at which point a management plan will have to be implemented.  The pictures I have seen on the net of the size of these animals leads me to believe that you would absolutely not want them around your house, lest you lose a family member now and then.

Nevertheless, it looks like a very successful program they are running there in the cheesehead state.
