Took the day off and loaded two of the kids into the car and headed for the mountains.

We ended up at Salt Springs Reservoir up at the edge of the Mokulumne Wilderness.  The kids loved it, which made me happy. We saw lots of trout in the lake and the river below the dam look super fishy, but of course I didn't bring my rod.  Next time.

Back to the normal grind tomorrow.

  1. How in the world did you find that place? That is a long winding dead end road!

  2. Believe it or not, years and years ago Tim and I backpacked up to the head of the lake and camped just above the "Blue Hole" about a mile upstream from the inlet. I hadn't been back since, and I needed to go somewhere close because I had to get the girl back to work at four. It was a trip back down memory lane, followed by a crazy speedy trip back to civilization.

Not only that, because it is a long, winding and lonely road, I let both the kids practice driving. They loved it. Dad's a hero, once again!
