Need to mount something like this on the deck - for repelling boarders, don't you know!

  1. Large sailing vessels used to carry these little cannons to announce their arrival to the harbormaster.

If I recall correctly it has a 2" bore (or so) and with a tight wad it is quite loud. With a load of shot or nails packed tight between two such wads would make zombie salad in short order with close quarters.

  2. There is a veritable taxonomy to your shipboard naval guns. If I'm not mistaken, that one there is actually a 'culvern' and would be loaded with grape shot. Very, very nasty weapon. There's and order to them too...and if I recall, from smallest to largest, it's

    falcons
    demifalcons
    culverns
    demiculverns
    cannons

    1. CW goes to Tractor Supply on Sunday and orders "Two demiculverns and a falcon, please!"
