Do you operate?

  1. Comments on the photo of the hot woman hunter:

    (1) It makes no sense to wear camo like that and have a rifle with a reflective barrel. From one who has done that stuff professionally, you can see that flashy barrel for miles and it will scare off the 'game'. The same can be true of sunglasses with the old mirror lenses. Some modern sunglasses are not so bad but I can recall being in places where the good guys were 'reflecting'. The bad guys, being bush monkeys, had no sunglasses and the advantage in an ambush situation.

    (2) Silencing a supersonic bullet is an exercise in frustration. You can suppress the muzzle flash, which is a good idea in combat, but in hunting, who cares, really? There are some sub-sonic rounds available for high powered rifles (and you can hand-load), but that defeats the purpose of the high powered rifle that you want to reach out and nail a target at 600+ yards. Additionally, since the elk isn't likely to shoot back, how important is it, really? Feral hogs are another matter and I am not anti-silencer. I'm simply pointing out that in the terrain where the lady is 'operating', she's less likely to have short-range shots.

    (3) That Schmidt and Bender PM2 scope is cool. I have one on my JP Arms LRP-07 and it spoils you.

    1. P. S. I know people who can take a 600 yard shot at a running deer and call the point of impact. My father (RIP) was one of those people - amazing. I have never been that good at long range running targets. For mountain goats/sheep at those ranges (where the operator in the photo is hunting - without wearing orange clothing), she needs a bipod if she wants to lay them in at the ranges required.

    2. That's why there is a cabin-of-dreams with a swimming hole-of-dreams, CW. A couple freshly caught trout, cooked over hot coals with pepper and lemon, I favor a cut up yellow bell pepper also BBQ'd with the fish, a dip in the swimming hole with a tumbler of single malt, and then let nature do what nature does back in the cabin.

    3. LOL... Yep, after she cleans the guns, washes the dishes, shuts down the BBQ, banks the fire in the woodstove, shakes out the bear rug, then nature is free for the evening.

Who the heck takes a yellow bell pepper to the back of beyond?

  3. I see what you're saying, but I choose to take a differing view of the image.

I prefer to see the woman as one that has VANQUISHED (past tense) her foe. Having eliminated the enemy, one no longer needs to hide in the shadows and is thus afforded the traditional 'trophy shot' pose to show supremacy. Since the enemy might be, for our purposes, an ideology, rather than an individual, there's no need for a carcass in the foreground, as is the case for many 'trophy' pictures.

Not only do I think the sniper has a chance of winning. I think she has won.
